2002 — Texas Cattle Dog Finals, with Rudy
Look what we did at the Texas Cattle Dog Finals with “RUDY,” by Sis and McCord’s Stetson. Rudy was born, raised and trained here, but he now belongs to Bud Wilmot (helping hold the sign) of Paradise, Texas.
2003 — Mullin, Texas, with the “Cow Crew”
On Saturday, Rudy won 2nd in the Open, and Ben was 7th out of 19 dogs. This was Bill’s first trial, and he acted a little lost. Lee had one jump through the fence, so she was disqualified. On Sunday, Ben won 2nd in the Open and Rudy was 3rd. Bill was really sharp to what was going on, but unfortunately drew the “Killer Cow” and did the best he could — it wasn’t enough. I was really proud of him. Lee did well; if it hadn’t been for a slight handler error, she might have won the Pro-Novice Class, but as it was she ended up 3rd.
2003 — Stock Show Trials, with Splash
Splash belongs to Alicia Barrett of Plano. She brought Splash to me this summer to train. We entered her in all of the Stock Show Sheepdog Trials, and so far Splash was Champion Nursery Dog at Fort Worth and San Antonio, and 2nd in the Open Ranch at San Antonio.
2004–2006 — the Ben years
Ben’s record — the $10,000 Calgary Stampede win, the 2004 State Finals, the 2004 LSCDF Maturity 4th place, and the long Wyoming circuit — is preserved in full on Ben’s Page. At the 2006 National Cattledog Finals, the kennel field sent three dogs deep: Reno 3rd in the Nursery (1 point behind the Reserve National Champion), and Bill 4th and Lee 6th in the Open out of 57.
2010–2013 — the next generation
Angie carried the program through the state circuit — the 2010 Rawlins buckle, the 7 Bar overall at Saratoga, the Alberta Stockdog Association Triple Crown Award, and the 2011 state final win above.
More of the 2012–2013 record: Crook took the Reserve Championship in the Pro-Novice at the Southwest Cattledog Finals in Graham (2nd in the second go, beaten only by Brock, who won that go-round); Brock was Nursery Champion at the Jim Chant Memorial in Rawlins while Mitch won the Open; and Mitch took 2nd at the Wyoming State Fair Cattledog Finals in Douglas.
